BEHOLD the NEW

On January 8th of this year, Holy Spirit spoke two words to me…”Order” and “New”. I love His intentionality! Even though the new year according to God’s timeline had already begun (Year 5778 on Rosh Hashanah, September 21, 2017), He spoke these words to me on the 8th day of the first month of a new year according to the calendar of 2018. Just as the number seven symbolizes perfection, completion and fulfillment, the number eight symbolizes resurrection, regeneration, new beginnings, a new era, new order, a new creation.

There has been a waiting, but I sense that now is the time to post this word, along with another word about “beholding the new” that the Lord had given me in January of 2017. I am so grateful for what He unfolds to us!

In Part 1, I will begin with sharing the word that He had given me in January of 2017 on “Behold the New”, that I believe will lay some good ground work. In Part 2 and 3 that I will be posting in the coming weeks, I will share my journal entries from January 8th and 9th of this year, and trust Holy Spirit to expound as He sees fit.

In such anticipation...here we go!

Part 1
BEHOLD the NEW

Asking the Lord for His counsel for a friend today...the scripture that comes to me is this:

16 Therefore from now on we recognize no one according to the flesh; even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him in this way no longer. 17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; beholdnew things have come18 Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
(2 Corinthians 5:16-20) (NASB)

What really is being highlighted to me today in this passage is,
               "BEHOLDnew things have come."

Let's start with unpacking some of that passage in the Greek:

--(Old things) HAVE PASSED AWAY is parerchomai = I pass by, pass away, pass out of sight; I am rendered void, become vain, neglect, disregard.

--BEHOLD is horaó = I see, look upon, experience, perceive, discern.

--NEW is kainos = fresh, new, unused.
(Strong's)  2537 kainós – properly, new in quality (innovation), fresh in development or
opportunity – because "not found exactly like this before."

--HAVE COME is ginomai = I come into being, am born, become, come about, happen,
   has emerged.
(Strong's) 1096 gínomai – properly, to emerge, becometransitioning from one point
   (realm, condition) to another.

To BEHOLD the NEW is to see, to look upon, to perceive, and to experience the new, fresh, unused, "not found exactly like this before" opportunity or development. The new that has emerged is not like anything before it. Anything! It is a totally new creation. Born into existence. Becoming what nothing has been before it. Unique. Fresh. New. Alive.

BUT, to be able to BEHOLD the NEW, we need to truly let the old pass away. We need to perceive the perfect work of the grace of God that has made the transition complete. We need to disregard, neglect, pass by, put out of our sight, those things that have passed away...they are rendered void, irrelevant, vain imaginations.

Therefore, whatsoever is true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of a good report...
Think on...
Meditate on...
See...
Behold...those things.

It's NEW life, NEW ground, NEW territory that has never been found,
or experienced before.

What does it look like to BEHOLD?

AS our minds are renewed by Holy Spirit in Father God's truth, His Word (both written and spoken), we begin to live in the NEW. In the spirit of our mind's eye (so-to-speak), we see the new, we look at the new, we discern the new, we perceive the new, we see ourselves experiencing the new.

AS we behold HIM (Who is True, noble, just, pure, and lovely!) we began to live in the reality of this new creation He has made us, and that which concerns us.

We become what we behold.

22 Strip yourselves of your former nature [put off and discard your old unrenewed self] which characterized your previous manner of life and becomes corrupt through lusts and desires that spring from delusion;
23 And be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude],

24 And put on the new nature (the regenerate self) created in God’s image, [Godlike] in true righteousness and holiness. (Ephesians 4:22-24) (AMP)

The enemy would like to keep us trapped, ensnared, and paralyzed in the "what if's", the "what abouts", and the "if onlys" .  (Delusions)

We may not be able to understand all things,
 wrap our minds around everything,
or know all things,
but we know ONE who does and we can trust Him.

There is only one thing that we need to KNOW,
and that is HIM and the hope He has called us to in Christ.
And this is my prayer for all of us!!

To set our hearts and minds on Him, and the totally NEW that He wants us to view. To re-pent is to change our view to see from His view. "SEE, all things have become new...the new has emerged!"

Beholding Him,
~ Tammy ~

  1. I am awestruck by God's word. His word is of spirit and Power. His word is life and as we drink and partake of His word, we shall be satisfied and never thirst again.
I know God is doing a new thing and may I perceive it. Thank you for this reminder, His words of spirit, life, and power.
