The Moment

The Moment
By Tammy Yearsley

The moment we realize that the Government of God rests on the KING’S shoulder (not ours) and operates through relationship (not man-made traditions, rituals, and hierarchy), is the moment the Church begins to function in her eternal purpose as an heir of God and a co-heir with Christ, and not just exist to fill yet another building.

The moment we acknowledge Jesus Christ as the only Head of His Church (His Body), and submit to one another out of reverence for Him, is the moment we begin to come into the unity of His Spirit and operate as one body with each part supplying what He has intended it to supply…maturing into the full stature of Christ and expanding His Kingdom in the earth. When we are in competition with one another, building our own names and kingdoms, we are a house divided against itself that cannot stand, and a body disconnected from the Head and one another that is, frankly…dead. (Dead works…no life and not a whole lot of expansion going on there!) Human effort is so exhausting, and will be reduced to rubble in the end. HIS expansion project consists of living stones that HE is building into a holy habitation for Himself. His house isn’t confined to one location. His house is living, breathing, mobile, fluid, and it carries His glory…His very self…and lasts forever. Time to enter His rest and cease from our own striving.

The moment we awaken to a living knowledge of Jesus Christ, is the moment that we begin to understand what the Lord’s will is. He will make His light shine on us. We will no longer be stumbling around in the dark, but His light will expose and make all things visible. The ways that seemed right to us before will be shown for the destructive paths they were, and He will lead us in His ways that are life, and everlasting. Because He is our standard, we will know what it is to operate in the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord. We will not be influenced by what we see or by what we hear, but our decisions will be guided by righteousness.

The moment that we choose Love and realize that we are not our own, is the moment we begin to experience a freedom that is unparalleled to any we have ever known. The moment we relinquish ALL rights to own, to control, to attain, to manipulate, to gain, to succeed, to have, to prove, to be right, is the moment that pride, offenses, and hurts no longer hold us captive. Our worth is not found in what we have or what we do…our worth is found in Jesus Christ alone. Our value comes from our Father who created us in His image. Titles don’t define us, positions don’t define us, people don’t define us, wealth doesn’t define us, poverty doesn’t define us, status doesn’t define us, ministry doesn’t define us, education doesn’t define us, health doesn’t define us, disability doesn’t define us, giftings don’t define us, talents don’t define us, religious denominations don’t define us, our families don’t define us, our friends don’t define us, persecution doesn’t define us, circumstance don’t define us, fear doesn’t define us, accomplishments don’t define us, our past doesn’t define us…only He who is Perfect Love defines us! When we belong to Him, what else is there to attain? We enter the rest of just being in Him, and everything that is done out of our relationship with Him will produce eternal fruit to the glory of our Father, to His joy and to ours!
