A holy hush had filled the room. The atmosphere was weighty and our hearts were captive in silence as Majesty, the King of Glory, entered among us.
His Presence, His Majesty, had come to be with us. Holy, Holy, Holy…Such a holiness and glory that one has no desire to move or speak, where even breathing becomes still.
The dishonor for our
King in that moment was too much to bear, and my heart felt like it was going
to break.
He had come to be with us…
I had to turn away.
In silence, with unrelenting tears, my grieving heart asked Him for forgiveness
for this dishonor of His Presence and the disregard of His Spirit.
As I write this, I
don’t believe it was this leader’s intention to dishonor the Lord. It could
very well be that in this tangible atmosphere of Heaven this individual was
recognizing impossibilities made possible.
But…what could’ve
taken place if our Lord and King would’ve been honored? What might the outcome
have been if He was given room to be and move in our midst according to HIS
intentions, His heart? What broken hearts may have been mended? What confused
minds may have found clarity and peace? What depleted bodies may have been
healed? What relationships may have been restored? What hearts may have truly
found Him for the very first time? What cities, regions, and nations shifted
with His transforming power? Not even through a word spoken, but by the touch
of the One who loves them and gave Himself for them.
When Jesus is
present, what else needs to be?
When the God of the
universe is among us, does any other agenda need to be announced?
When Holy Spirit is
given room to move, what can man do that He cannot do in all His limitlessness?
We can have “good”
meetings and gatherings that deny Him access, Lordship, and freedom of His
movement among us. We can live “good” lives that have no depth of who He is.
The shallow places
may seem safe and comfortable, but it becomes complicated as we try drudging
through the sand to get to some kind of destination.
We were made for the
deep places where our hearts cry out to know Him and we simply trust Him with
all that is within us. Here all striving ceases and we enter His slipstream. He
IS the Deep. He IS the Door. HE is why we gather together. HE is why we are.
“Complicated and
shallow…or…simple and deep?” (Quote by Charles Brian Harrison)
Having some form of
Him…or…having Him?
When He comes to our
hearts, will we open the door and allow Him full access?
When Majesty comes among us, will we
recognize Him? Will we clear the floor and make room for the King? (Revelation 3:14-22)
Holy, Holy, Holy...
"Lord, that we would have eyes to see You, ears to hear You, and hearts to know You are here, in our midst."
